Summary:
This project aims to address violence against women and girls (VAWG) and gender-based discrimination (GBD) in Albania by emphasizing the role and engagement of men and boys in achieving gender equality and responsible parenting. It promotes a transformative gender approach, moving from traditional stereotypes to men and boys as engaged, gender-equitable, and non-violent fathers and caregivers.
Project Objective:
To enhance the safety and wellbeing of women, girls, and children by raising awareness of gender equality and promoting the active involvement of men and boys in parenting and caregiving.
Key Expected Outcomes:
- Increased capacity of local professionals and youth to engage men and boys in responsible and active parenting.
- Empowered fathers through education and workshops on positive fatherhood.
- Enhanced community awareness of the importance of men’s roles in caregiving and gender equality.
Key Activities:
- Training sessions for professionals in the health and social service sectors to promote shared parenting responsibilities.
- Workshops and university forums to educate students on the transformative role of men in families.
- Formation of fathers’ groups to share experiences and promote positive parenting practices.
- Community awareness campaigns with promotional corners, brochures, and activities for children emphasizing the importance of fatherhood.
- TV spots highlighting fathers’ roles as active caregivers and everyday heroes.
Main Beneficiaries:
- 220 university students and 30 professors.
- 60 health and social service professionals.
- 20 fathers and 18 parent couples.
- 600 community members visiting promotional corners.
- 300,000 individuals reached through TV and media campaigns.
Implementation: The project will be implemented in the municipalities of Shkoder, Vlore, and Elbasan from January 2024 to April 2025.
